Tropsim Corporate Solstice

 

Tropism, from Ontario, Canada, was founded as a two man unit to explore all forms of sound (read: noise) that could be recorded using low quality, low-fi equipment. It has evolved into a diverse project encompassing harsh noise to discordant soundscapes to unclassifiable software based mutations.   After 10+ years in existence, the Tropism catalogue now numbers in excess of 300 entries.  A box set was completed in December 2008 comprising over 43GB of compressed audio material spanning 10 DVDs and 1 CD.  The complete 1-300 collection includes five significant multipart series:

  2. Hybridissa
  3. Reverse Universe
  4. World Illusion
  5. Reversals

Tropism 300 is the final release and features Richard Oddie from Orphx.  Several colleagues contributed their time and talents to many of the other releases of the project over the years.

Three releases known as 'Tropism Zero' were completed as an 'alternate universe' to the original project. They are not publicly available.

The project continues as Tropizm.  This project’s focus is all forms of experimental ambient electronics.
